Online Therapy in Phoenix

online therapy from home or work

Online therapy sessions take place using a secure telehealth platform. It’s like Zoom, but it’s HIPAA-compliant and has safeguards designed to keep sessions confidential. Online therapy sessions are super convenient for fitting couples therapy or individual therapy into a busy life or for those who travel frequently. Also, it’s kinda awesome to do therapy without leaving your couch. Online therapy is available if you are in Arizona or over 30 states in the US which I’m approved to practice telehealth. Check them out here.

Questions about Online Therapy

  • Online therapy is counseling via computer or smartphone. We use our devices to see and hear each other during your session. You can attend online therapy from work or home or, in some cases, while travelling.

  • Most clients who use online therapy find it fits conveniently into their busy schedule. They can have a session from their couch at home or in their office during a break. Meeting virtually for counseling saves time commuting to and from sessions. Some clients say they are able to express their emotions more readily in a familiar environment. Other clients feel secure having their dog or cat with them during their session.

  • We can meet for therapy sessions while you are travelling if you are physically located in Arizona or one of the states in which I’m authorized to provide online therapy. For a list of states, click here.

  • Research overwhelmingly shows that online talk therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy. Before I started providing sessions via telehealth, I was pretty skeptical that I’d have a strong therapeutic relationship with clients on a screen. I was so wrong! I’ve worked successfully with many clients that I never met in person, and I feel just as connected to them as I do with in-person clients.

  • Using any technology increases the risk of a breach of confidentiality. However, the technology used in telehealth sessions is designed to limit risks. We’ll use a HIPAA-compliant, secure platform for your Online Therapy sessions. The platform, called Simple Practice, is made especially for therapists and is used by over 40,000 mental health providers to maintain confidentiality.

  • Accessing your online therapy session is easy. Prior to your session, my office will email and/or text (your choice) you a link for your session. You can join your counseling session by clicking the link. If you want to try it out ahead of time, I’m happy to do a short trial session for you.

  • Most people find a computer or tablet to be the easiest for virtual counseling. However, some clients prefer to use a smart phone. You can use whichever device you choose. Virtual therapy is meant to be convenient and comfortable for you.

  • Major connection problems are rare. However, if we get disconnected or the technology isn’t working as expected, I’ll call you to help out or finish the session by phone.
