Therapy
for Parents
in Phoenix

Parenting is the ultimate juggling act! The rewards of parenting are incredible. And, because I am also an imperfect parent, I know parenting is really hard! Raising humans is a huge responsibility, and it has a way of triggering our own “stuff.” There’s a ton of research on parenting in the field of psychology, but kids don’t come with a handbook. One of the findings that gives me comfort is that children just need parents who are “good enough,” not perfect. Knowing what affects kids the most can help us focus on things that really matter. Great parenting looks different for each family. You are the expert on your kids, yourself, your culture, and your family. Therapy focuses on emotions, attachment, and healthy communication skills. Counseling is a judgment-free space to be real about the struggles and successes on your journey through parenthood. Here you’ll receive research-informed support with a huge dose of empathy (because I am on this journey too).

FAQs

Should I bring my kids?

I am here to support you, which will likely benefit your kids. I love being around kids, but the conversation changes when kids are around. It’s best if only parents attend sessions of Therapy for Parents, particularly at the beginning. After we’ve established a foundation in therapy, we may decide together to have children join for family sessions. If you’d like to have sessions as a family from the beginning, check out Family Therapy.

What about babies?

One exception is for babies under 6 months. If you are able to concentrate on therapy, I welcome you to bring your baby and will happily work around your care for them. If the weather is nice and you are comfortable with it, we may even be able to take a walk during the therapy session. There is a parent’s room on site.

How much will this cost?

Sessions are $220 per 50-minute session.

How many sessions will I need?

Parents can have weekly sessions or meet every two weeks. If you are working on goals between sessions, it is common to see progress toward your goals. The total number of sessions you attend depends on what you’re working on and how you feel about your progress.
